ABTS Inc members are proud to announce that our
18th Australian Barley Technical Symposium
will be held on the following dates
3 - 6 September 2017
Wrest Point Hotel Casino - Hobart Tasmania
The theme of our 18th ABTS in Hobart is:
THE SCIENCE AND THE CRAFT:
The Australian Barley Technical Symposium is recognised internationally as a forum that successfully promotes the exchange of information throughout the barley supply chain. The advances in plant genetics through large global consortia (often involving Australian research scientists) have the potential to significantly improve Australian barley industry productivity and are always showcased widely at the ABTS.

Young scientists are actively encouraged to attend the ABTS with many opportunities to learn about the high level of science occuring in the barley industry.
"The barley industry, perhaps more so than most grains industries - due to the quality requirements of the malting and brewing industries - relies heavily on communication throughout the supply chain. Dialogue is essential between research and development, processing, marketing and brewing industries, and in particular - growers, for the industry to be innovative and prosperous. Without dialogue, opportunities for the advancement of all sectors will be limited."
